Another update

Well I ma still knitting my gingerbread men. I have not knitted many. I have done 6 and still have 24 to go. It will be done. I want to get 10 by the weekend and then I can aim to do one a day. I just hope I can do it.

I have not finished the lacy blanket as I was asked to knit an aran cardigan. I will post a picture later as it is the first aran cardigan I have knitted with a zip.

The Other Boleyn Girl

I am currently reading The Other Boleyn Girl, which is proving to be an interesting read. This is not the type of books I would read but one of the Book Groups that I joined was reading it but I did not get round to reading it due to other commitments. I try and read it in my spare time. It might take a while to read but I know it will be worth it.

Books I have read

I have beem so busy I have not been able to add the books I have read since my last post.

I have read We have to talk about Kevin. I found this book very emotional and deep too. I enjoyed reading it but it was one of those books that you can only ready a few pages or a chapter at a time.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detecetive Agency

That was a funny book. I saw the film/drama of it when it cam on TV about two years ago. I loved it then and that prompted me to buy the set.

Ma, I'm gettin' meself a mammy

This book is written by Martha Long who also wrote Ma, he sold me for a few cigarettes. Martha, the main character in the book, is a likeable charatcer but she does have a mean streak about her. She is funny and in this book we saw a different side to her compared to the first book. It is worth a read. I do not want to give too much away as you may decide to read it.

There are others I have read but I have forgotten what they are.

Nightjohn - Gary Paulsen

I heard someone read an extract from this book a week ago and I asked that person if I could borrow the book. I received the book on Friday and it took me 50mins to read it. It is a short book about someone teaching a slave to read which was a punishable offence for slaves. Slaves were not allowed to read or write.

I found it very emotional and at times it made me very angry.

The book was written in meory of Sally Hemmings who was also a slave and who was owned by Thomas Jefferson.

Nineteen Minutes - Jodi Picoult
